Shared Services Model – Supply Chain

On July 20, 2017, the Health and Community Services Minister announced a Shared Services Model for Supply Chain for the province’s four Regional Health Authorities (RHAs) and the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information (NLCHI).

The Department of Health and Community Services, the four RHAs, and NLCHI have been exploring opportunities to achieve greater efficiencies and restrain spending by sharing the delivery of non-clinical services functions.

Under a new Shared Services Model, Central Health will take the lead to provide a provincial service for supply chain on behalf of the other RHAs and NLCHI. This approach will leverage existing capability, experience, and capacity within the RHAs and NLCHI.

VISION for Shared Services Model – Supply Chain
An integrated supply chain model that ensures the right products and services are available at the right place and the right time at the best price to support safe, efficient and effective health care.

MANDATE for Shared Services Model – Supply Chain
To provide exceptional, consistent, and trusted strategic sourcing and procurement services through collaborative partnerships with all stakeholders and managed supplier relationships to drive value and stewardship for the health system.

The transition to the Shared Services Model for Supply Chain will begin immediately, but will take up to five years to fully implement. For now, it’s business as usual as we focus on establishing the management structure for the new Shared Services Model.

If you have any questions regarding your company’s current supplier or vendor agreements or contracts, please feel free to reach out to your Supply Chain contact at our health organization.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support during this transition.
