A Great Place to Live and Work

The Western Region of Newfoundland and Labrador is home to pristine communities perfect for any active individual or any individual looking for a quaint, quiet, safe community to live, without the busy lifestyle of larger cities.

The Western Region provides a variety of excellent educational opportunities from primary through to post secondary education.  Some of the distinguished institutions in the region include the Sir Wilfred Grenfell College Campus (an affiliate of Memorial University) located in Corner Brook.  This campus offers a number of well recognized  degree programs and is a partner with Western Health in delivering the Western Regional School of Nursing, a four year baccalaureate program.  Additionally, the College of the North Atlantic has campuses located in Corner Brook, Stephenville and Port aux Basques.  There are also a number of private colleges and courses offered throughout the region such as the Safety and Emergency Response Training Center in Stephenville, which provide excellent opportunities for post secondary learning.

The Western Region of Newfoundland also boasts some of the most beautiful scenery in the province, including  Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site.  Located in Steady Brook, only minutes from Corner Brook, Marble Mountain, the largest ski resort in Atlantic Canada. Also, found on the outskirts of Corner Brook is the scenic Blomidon Cross Country Ski Club.  Both ski locations offer a number of runs for the beginner or expert alike. In addition to these activities, there are a variety of snowmobile and all-terrain vehicle trails, world-renowned salmon fishing, hunting, mountain biking and camping.

For those inclined to enjoy unique cultures, a time to relax and the company of others, Western Newfoundland is also home to a variety of multi-cultural experiences including music festivals, theaters, museums and fine art galleries.
